More Mature
7

We also have a lively group of 'more mature' people who worship with our church on Sundays and enjoy fellowship during the week: -

The "Spotlight Service" is on the 4th Wednesday of each month at 10.30am at All Saints Church in Handcross. It is a quiet and reflective service lasting about three-quarters of an hour. There is a talk, sometimes following a theme, sometimes a "one-off" and a few traditional hymns. You are invited to stay afterwards for coffee/tea and biscuits and the chance to get to know each other a little better. Lifts can be arranged if necessary.

Even though most of the members are retired, life can still be very busy and we aim to draw aside, to let God be the centre of all that we do.

Do come along if you haven't been before, we'd love to welcome you.

Mustard Seed Lunches

These lunches have been running successfully for the last six years in at All Saints Church, Handcross. We have 102 members, who each receive two invitations to attend lunches during the autumn and spring with an average of 35/40 at each lunch. The Christmas Lunch is the highlight of the year, and all members are invited - last year it was attended by over 80 people.

If you are of mature age, enjoy good food in a relaxed, warm atmosphere with not too risque jokes, and are willing to be welcomed by an exceptionally friendly group of people, who will let you join in at your own pace, then we look forward to meeting you.

Songs of Praise

This gathering is held five times a year in All Saints Church, Handcross and once in the summer in the lovely garden of the Rev. Kenneth and Mary Habershon in Handcross. The Reverend Gary Simmons usually leads this one-hour service of popular hymns, songs and short reflections.

After the service there is tea with a variety of delicious homemade cakes to be enjoyed whilst having fellowship with one another.

Special events

A very successful "Saturday Special for Senior Citizens" was organised last year at the Parish Hall in Handcross. This included a quiz, a sing-along and ended with a lovely tea of sandwiches and cakes. Similar events will be repeated from time to time.

DORCAS

The Dorcas Group is a church-based fellowship, trying (like Dorcas in the Bible) to make things for others and to help the needy. We meet on the third Tuesday of each month in All Saints Church Handcross at 2.15 p.m. We have a short service and then tea and chat. We collect sheets, cotton clothes wool and many other things that are useful in the third world. Those who like to knit make little woollies for children, hats for the homeless, etc. Please join us – we'd love to have your company.
